- અવુલ પકિર જૈનુલાબ્દિન અબ્દુલ કલામ (જન્મ : ૧૫ ઓક્ટોબર ૧૯૩૧, રામેશ્વરમ; મૃત્યુ: ૨૭ જુલાઇ ૨૦૧૫, શિલોંગ) જેઓ ડો.એ.પી.જે.અબ્દુલ કલામ તરીકે ઓળખાય છે, તેઓશ્રી ભારતના રાષ્ટ્રપતિ પદે ઇ. સ. ૨૦૦૨ થી ૨૦૦૭ સુધી બિરાજમાન હતા. તેમની અનોખી કાર્યપધ્ધતીને કારણે તેઓ ખુબ પ્રખ્યાત થયા અને "જનસામાન્યનાં રાષ્ટ્રપતિ" તરીકે લોકચાહના મેળવી.રાષ્ટ્રપતિ બન્યા પહેલા તેમણે એરોસ્પેસ ઇજનેર તરીકે સરંક્ષણ અને વિકાસ સંગઠન(DRDO) અને ભારતીય અંતરિક્ષ અનુસંધાન સંગઠન(ISRO) ખાતે કામ કર્યુ હતું.હ્રદય રોગના તિવ્ર હુમલાને કારણે ૨૭ જુલાઇ ૨૦૧૫ના દિવસે ભારતના મેઘાલય રાજ્યના પાટનગર શિલોંગ ખાતે તેમનું અવસાન થયું
